We spent ten days wandering around the Kootenay region, which is the South Eastern corner of BC.
Several large, long and narrow lakes and lots of heavily wooded hills, with a variety of medium sized towns.
We enjoyed one of the many hot springs, but most were closed due to Covid-19.
Also enjoyed a fascinating cave system near Nelson, which was fun, but not at all photogenic.
We were surprised to see quite a number of maple trees, showing their Fall colours as beautifully as in Quebec.  When we finally find a house we should plant a couple
We drove through the Crow's Nest Pass, and enjoyed the historical displays in a couple of museums, and some hiking/biking.
Photo on the left is in Fernie.
The one on the right on a trail we hiked but do not remember exactly where.
Here we see Helen at the Paint Pots, natural colour sources used in the past by the First Nations people.
The viaducts at the right are on the former Kettle Valley Railroad, now a well preserved historic monument and bike trail.  It was too cold to enjoy cycling, but we will hopefully bike the whole run one day
