Helen retired from flying, and Neil is mostly retired from pulp and paper
industry engineering. We spend Christmas and New Year in Guatemala and Belize, which included touristing in Guatemala, mostly on the "chicken buses", lazing in a beachfront cabin in Placencia, (Helen in photo) and a week's sailing on a chartered catamaran with both boys. Summer sailing is described below. Helen and Neil continued to volunteer as First Responders at home, and also as instructors in the handicapped ski program at Owl's Head, ski area. From starting in Germany, to the Arctic Circle,
we sailed about 1200 miles. After getting North of the Arctic circle as fast as we enjoyable could, we spent some time cruising around at a more leisurely pace, as shown in the map to the left. The total distance sailed North of the Circle was about 800 miles. (Double click a map to see full size, then use the back button on your browser to return here) |
